About Me

Elizabeth M. Forshee

My Story

Along the Wandering Way birthed out of a season of transition. My family and I were serving overseas when the Lord began moving his cloud. We followed his leading to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2016. Moving from the field challenged my identity, purpose and belonging in new ways. For the first time I felt my future to be filled with darkness. Through books on transition, pilgrimage, and prayer I slowly moved forward. The Wandering Way was a space to process and write. In time, God directed me toward places to learn about our Christian heritage and spirituality. Through more books and classes, I began to learn about the ministry of spiritual direction. They were balm to my soul and ministered deeply to my heart in a time of loss. In 2023 I received certification in spiritual direction through Sustainable Faith whilst studying Ignatian Spirituality at Loyola University. In this new season of life I sense God renovating my vocational calling and heart for his bride. It is my joy to offer spiritual direction, spiritual practices, and historical wisdom from our tradition to others in the form of soul care, or spiritual formation. My desire is to offer the goodness I have experienced in Christ on my journey along the wandering way to others because I believe it is truly good, hopeful, and allows us to live with the fullness of life. I hope you will find joy and delight as you join me along the wandering way. You can learn more about my spiritual direction practice as well as read about other areas of spiritual formation: Prayer, Liturgical Seasons, Spiritual Practices, and general writings about our Christian faith, and more. Feel free to explore.

The Ministry of Spiritual Direction

It is a humbling gift to call myself a spiritual director and one I do not take lightly for it is a ministry in care of souls. A spiritual director holds sacred space together with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to explore the movements of God in your life through prayerful, compassionate listening, and noticing. Spiritual direction is a unique time to still yourself and grow in God-awareness. You can think of it as a spacious place where God delights in you (Psalm 18:19) and longs for deeper connection with you in all of life.

As a director, I accompany you on your spiritual journey toward a deeper life with Christ. Spiritual direction has long been practiced by the early church as a form of pastoral care toward the formation of souls. My role is to prayerfully listen with you as you look for movements of the Spirit in your life. A director is a companion in prayer, discernment, and noticing God’s love and involvement in your life. Direction is about you drawing nearer to God by becoming more aware of how the Spirit speaks uniquely to you so that you can respond to the invitations God has for your life and how he’s inviting you to partner with him in loving others.
