Journey Through the 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises

Are you longing for a deeper, more intentional life with God—one shaped by discernment, freedom, and a growing intimacy with Jesus? The 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises offers a unique pathway to transformation right in the midst of your daily life.

Often called “the retreat in everyday life,” this nine-month (30-35 week) journey invites you to walk slowly and prayerfully through St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises with the support of a trained spiritual director. Instead of stepping away for 30 days of silence, you bring the Exercises into your ordinary rhythms—your home, your work, your prayer corner—allowing God to meet you exactly where you live.

Throughout this retreat, you will:

  • Engage in daily guided prayer rooted in Scripture and Ignatian contemplation

  • Notice God’s presence more clearly in your everyday experiences

  • Discern the movements of the Spirit with growing confidence

  • Explore your desires, attachments, and the freedom God longs to awaken

  • Meet regularly with a spiritual director who will accompany you with care and wisdom

The 19th Annotation is not simply a program—it is a sacred pilgrimage of the heart. A gentle, steady way of letting Christ reshape how you see God, yourself, and the world.

If you are ready to say “yes” to a deeper companionship with Jesus, I invite you to begin this transformative journey.

When I started on this journey of Ignatian prayer, I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I have kept a journal of this journey, and when I look back over it I don’t even need to read the words on the pages. Everything started out in black. And as I flip through the pages slowly but surely hints of color start to appear. As I am turning the pages I can’t help but think of Genesis 1 and how the earth started out dark and formless. As God spoke, each word that was spoken brought hints of color. It’s like this journey has been my creation story in a way. The more I flip the pages, and the more God speaks things into being the more colorful and beautiful each page, creation became. When I get to the end of my journal just as God arrived on the seventh day, I look back and hear God speak: it is good, it’s all very good.
