Along the Wandering Way

Spiritual Direction

A sacred space to listen deeply and receive God’s loving inspiration in prayer.

You were made for more than survival.

Too often, the busyness of life, inner criticism, and spiritual exhaustion leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from God. Spiritual direction offers a quiet, prayerful space to rest from striving, listen to your soul, and notice God’s presence in the everyday.

In this sacred companionship, you don’t have to journey alone. A spiritual director walks with you, helping you discern God’s voice, sift through inner noise, and awaken to a life birthed in love and created to flourish.

What is spiritual direction?

Spiritual direction is an ancient Christian practice of companion-based holy listening. Together with your director and the Holy Spirit, you’ll explore the movements of God in your story—through silence, prayer, and compassionate reflection.

Unlike therapy or coaching, spiritual direction isn’t about fixing problems or setting goals. It’s about paying attention to God’s loving presence in your life, discerning the Spirit’s invitations, and finding freedom to live more fully in Christ.

In Spiritual Direction, prayer looks like:

What a Session Looks Like

Sessions are usually one hour, once a month, in person or online. We begin with a moment of prayer or silence, then gently explore what feels most present in your life—through story, reflection, or guided prayer. There’s no script, just a safe and prayerful space to be present with God and be known, seen, and loved.

“Spiritual direction is an art, a dynamic flow of listening and responding, of questions and wondering, of encouragement, of silence, all in the context of prayer.”

— Sue Pickering, Spiritual Direction: A Practical Introduction

Is Spiritual Direction Right for You?

You might consider spiritual direction if:

Your prayer life feels dry or disconnected

You’re in a season of transition or decision-making

You long for deeper intimacy with the Triune God

You’re grieving, struggling with faith, or feeling burned out

You want to explore contemplative practices

You want to discern vocational purpose and identity

You’re weary, and worn out and long for soul refreshment

You feel alone in your spiritual questions or hurt

Wherever you find yourself, spiritual direction is a place to be fully seen, known, and loved—while listening together for God’s unfolding work in your life.
